Flowering begins in early June, once-blooming, with occasional repeat in warm autumn. Peduncles are short. Hip set is poor. Leaves are large, matte. Prickles are long, straight, needle-shaped, with an admixture of many additional needle-like prickles. Shrubs produce numerous shoots; plant height up to 2.0–2.3 m. Very winter-hardy. For group plantings along edges in parks.
