More information

Vesper is an orange floribunda that can shift toward brown under certain conditions. This occurs most often in cold weather and primarily from the reverse of the petals. With good care, blooms present in dense sprays, showing mahogany and coffee tones; without it, the blooms appear faded. Flowers open singly or in small, loose clusters in the first flush. In the second flush, clusters become much larger (5–10 blooms). Foliage is prone to black spot. Growth is moderate, and the plant requires several years to reach mature size. Very light pruning is recommended. .

Another unusually colored floribunda bred by Edward leGrys. The blooms are bright apricot-brown. Sprays are orderly, ranging from small to quite large. Each bloom has 20 petals, semi-marginal. Fragrance is light. The foliage is leathery and covers a low, squat bush. Peak bloom quality is in the first and autumn flush; in summer the flowers scorch quickly. Leaves are small, bluish-grey; disease resistance is average, with some susceptibility to black spot and powdery mildew. Prune judiciously to maintain a rounded, balanced bush.

In photos this floribunda may appear simply salmon pink, but its coloration is in fact unusual, best described as pastel orange. It shows well under artificial light, flowers profusely, and forms a robust bush with stiff shoots and blue-green foliage. Performance is better in cooler climates; in heat the blooms turn pink and the distinctive tone diminishes.
