More information
Velvet Fragrance is a raspberry-colored hybrid tea rose with a strong fragrance. The blooms are very large, very full, and well-formed, with color and form holding in hot, dry weather. Petals are silky, deep crimson with near-black shading and a velvety sheen along the petal edges. Flowers appear singly on long, sturdy shoots and are suitable for cutting. The variety flowers until late autumn. At times, blooms develop on unusually long young shoots. Foliage is dark green and susceptible to black spot in some regions. The shrub is vigorous, upright, with crimson young growth.
The flowers are among the darkest red currently available, with a velvety petal texture. Blooms are large and high-centered, appearing mainly singly and occasionally in small clusters. Flowering continues through summer and autumn, and, as indicated by the name and multiple awards, the variety is strongly fragrant. Often planted in groups. The bush is strong, erect, of medium height, with coarse, dark green foliage.
