Meyan used Austin’s ‘William Sheakespeare’ to impart the character of antique roses to this hybrid tea rose from the Romance series. The outcome is a full, “oriental”-style bloom with numerous small petals, sometimes showing a flattened form. In wet weather, blooms may fail to open, they can be spoiled by rain, and they may scorch in hot sun. When fully open, a few white dashes and spots are visible in the center. As the flowers age, they lose brightness and fade to crimson. Blooms usually appear singly on long shoots, are suitable for cutting, and keep well in water. The shrub is strong-growing, with thick, rigid canes and large, dark, glossy foliage. The variety flowers in repeated waves until late autumn.
Bright red, redcurrant-like color. Densely petalled flowers with a bright yellow button in the center. The bush reaches 100–120 cm in height. Bloom form corresponds to the described full, many-petalled type.
