‘The Doctor’ is a pink Hybrid Tea rose with large, high-centered blooms. Flowers have a strong fragrance and about 25 petals, with an average diameter of about 15 cm (6 inches). It flowers repeatedly in flushes throughout the season.The variety was bred by Frederick Huber Howard in the United States in 1936 and introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1940 under the name ‘The Doctor’. It is suitable for USDA zones 6b and warmer. The plant grows to about 60–75 cm in height and about 60 cm in width. It is reported as susceptible to blackspot. Parentage is ‘Mrs. J.D. Eisele’ × ‘Los Angeles’. The rose is named after the breeder and author Jean Henri (J.H.) Nicolas.
