More information
Sympathie combines the winter hardiness of kordesii hybrids with the tea-hybrid form. The flowers are double, high-centered, with recurving petals, bright red with dark velvety undertones. They are borne in clusters of 3-10; an abundant first flush is followed by less abundant repeat waves. Blooms tolerate rain and wind. The shrub is branched and vigorous; the foliage is glossy, bright green, and resistant to diseases.
This second-generation kordesii hybrid is bright red with a dark crimson cast that creates a velvety sheen, contrasted by a white mark at the base of the petals. The flowers are tea-hybrid in shape, double, in small clusters; the bloom is very abundant, followed by less abundant repeats. Flowers withstand wind and rain. The bush is branched, strong-growing, with shiny bright green foliage, reaching 4 m.
This variety blooms in trusses of slightly fragrant blood-red flowers, each with about 20 petals. The flowers are large and cup-shaped. The coloration is very dark and bright at the same time, contrasting with the bright green glossy foliage. The first wave of flowering is abundant; the following ones are less abundant. The bush is strong, fast growing, and hardy.
