More information
Super Dorothy was bred by Karl Hetzel as an improved form of Dorothy Perkins, with repeat flowering and resistance to powdery mildew. The blooms are slightly darker than those of Dorothy Perkins, a dark pink with a paler reverse to the petals and a white spot in the centre. Super Dorothy flowers fade with age, especially where petals are in bright sun. They appear in large, loose clusters of 20-40 flowers. The foliage is fine, glossy and disease resistant, although black spot may occasionally occur. The shoots of Super Dorothy are pale green, flexible, and almost thornless. It is not as tall as Dorothy Perkins, and its spreading habit suits use on weeping boles. Super Dorothy begins blooming relatively late, after which waves of flowers follow quite quickly until frost, and the bush is rarely without bloom.
