Winter-hardy Rosa rugosa with purple flowers and same-color stamens from the Strandperle ® (Coastal Pearl) series. The bush form is intermediate between a groundcover rose and a small shrub. Foliage is finer-textured than in most rugosas. Fragrance is similar to wild rose on a seashore in summer heat. Blooms recur in waves throughout the season. Produces hips used for health-related purposes. The originator highlights a feature of the variety: rosehip constituents are described as effective against osteoarthritis and as antioxidants that bind free radicals in the human body.
