Sputnik is a hybrid tea rose bred by Vera Nikolaevna Klimenko in the former USSR in 1955. Its parentage is Kordes’ Sondermeldung (floribunda, Kordes, before 1943) crossed with Gloria Dei. A Russian synonym is “Спутник (Чг., Клименко, 1955)”.
