More information
A variety noted for the character of old-fashioned roses, bearing large blooms reminiscent of smaller versions of Constance Spry. The flowers are deeply calyx-shaped, densely petalled, and display a delicate pink coloration. With age they take on a lilac hue. They carry a gentle myrrh fragrance. The foliage is grey-green, accompanying the blooms. Spirit of Freedom shows high disease resistance as a rose cultivar. It requires time to attain the height expected of a climber, and can reach 2.4-2.75 metres. It is equally suitable when cultivated as a shrub. It forms a branching bush and requires light pruning.
