The rose was bred by Jean Pernet in France in 1874. The cultivar is dedicated to the rose nursery founded by Jean Souper and Pierre Notting in 1855. The rose blooms once, very abundantly in late spring to early summer. Occasionally, by the end of summer, single repeat flowers may appear. The flowers are small, approximately 6 cm in diameter, rich pink in color, with a strong fragrance. The leaves are small, grey-green. The shrub grows up to 1 m tall and up to 60 cm wide.
