More information
This shrub is grown in a range of climates worldwide. The bush carries delicate yellow double, rounded blooms, with continuous flowering for several months. The plant has a rounded, spreading habit, broader than tall, which makes the variety suitable for landscape plantings and as a groundcover rose; it is also used as a standard (on a stake) or as a solitaire. The flowers are slightly cup-shaped, with golden stamens. They are borne singly or in clusters of up to 5. The foliage is dense, glossy, disease-resistant, and slightly reminiscent of rugosa leaves. It grows well in poor soil and does not produce long shoots that disrupt the shape of the shrub.
The large cup-shaped blooms, ochre-yellow in bud and lemon-yellow at full opening, are set against glossy green foliage. The variety is widely known, appears in catalogues of the largest rose nurseries, and holds a British breeders’ prize for novelty of coloration, high decorative value, and disease resistance.
