More information
Named in honor of the Scottish writer and poet Sir Walter Scott, this cultivar is the result of crossing with the Scottish rose. The ‘Sir Walter Scott’ variety shows strong disease resistance within this line of breeding. It bears small deep pink flowers that pale as they open. Numerous pointed petals are arranged around the center to form an Old Rose–style rosette. The Scottish rose heritage is reflected in a low, dense shrub with soft, full foliage. Unlike many Scottish roses, ‘Sir Walter Scott’ repeat-flowers well and has a strong vintage rose fragrance. This hardy variety is suited to the front of a flower bed.
