Scharlachglut is a hybrid gallica rose bred by Wilhelm J.H. Kordes II in Germany and introduced in 1952. The flowers are scarlet with golden-yellow stamens, have no to mild fragrance, and average about 12.5 cm in diameter. Blooms are large, single, produced in small clusters, and have a flat form. It flowers once in spring or summer. The plant has a tall, arching, bushy, spreading and upright habit with matte, dense foliage. Typical height ranges from 150 to 200 cm and width from 185 to 215 cm. It is suitable for USDA zones 6b and warmer and can be used in the garden, as a hedge, in landscapes, as a pillar rose, or as a shrub, and it can be trained as a climber. The plant produces decorative hips and is tolerant of rain and shade.
