Black buds open to velvety dark purple-red flowers with a strong fragrance. The colour is deeper when the rose is planted in a spot sheltered from the midday sun. John Scarman recommends planting this variety in groups of 3–5 alongside white roses such as White Wings. The rose is suitable for container cultivation. Repeats blooming in waves throughout the season.
