More information

Large, densely petaled blooms and a robust, disease-resistant shrub characterize the modern hybrid tea rose Savoy Hotel. Petals are silver-pink with a strawberry-pink reverse; the many petals create pronounced internal shading. Flowers arise on long stems, usually singly. The plant is vigorous, flowers freely, and shows good disease resistance.

A branched shrub up to 1 m tall with abundant dark green foliage. Flowers are light pink with a darker reverse, very large, densely waved, and high in petal count. Blooms profusely through summer and autumn.

Large, soft pink blooms display a darker underside. The goblet-shaped flowers carry a light fragrance. Flowering is abundant. The shrub is medium-sized, branched, with dark green, disease-resistant foliage. In temperate climates it is suitable for bedding and mixed borders.

Blooms are pale pink, a uniform color without other tints. Outer petals show a slight greenish cast that becomes imperceptible as the flowers open. Color holds well in sun and withstands adverse conditions except heavy rain. Buds are globular. Multiple rows of petals are symmetrically arranged in a complex pattern, with a well-defined center. The high petal count maintains the flower’s form for an extended period before full opening. An open bloom with 50 petals reaches 9 cm in diameter. Fragrance is light, with pink and spicy notes. Flowers appear singly or in small cyst-like clusters of no more than 5, produced in high numbers. Bloom coverage can be heavy enough that foliage is scarcely visible. The plant is densely foliated, with medium-sized leaves; young foliage emerges ruby-red. The variety shows disease resistance overall, but is susceptible to black spot. A robust, hardy cultivar suitable for cultivation in cold regions. (F.Harkness)
