More information
Rumba was among the earliest roses to bring to low-growing floribundas the vivid, variable Masquerade-type coloration. Buds open yellow; as they develop, the petal edges turn bright scarlet and then crimson while the yellow tones fade. The petal reverse is yellow, and the flower center also stays yellow. Blooms are rosette-shaped and tolerate wet weather; the petals do not drop but wither on the plant. Flowers are carried in clusters of 3–15 on a stiff, compact shrub with shiny green foliage; the cultivar reblooms abundantly. Rumba is widely grown, especially in northern Europe.
Thick, glossy foliage covers an upright shrub to 70 cm in height and width. Yellow, double blooms with a red blush appear in clusters; the flowers turn brown and dry on the plant. Flowering is virtually continuous throughout summer. Tolerates poor soils and prefers full sun. Deadhead spent blooms.
