More information
Rugelda is a yellow Rugosa rose cultivar with vigorous growth. Its flowers open from scarlet buds and are lemon yellow with a reddish edge, later fading to cream with pink; overall coloration varies greatly with weather conditions. The petals are distinctly wavy and form pom‑pom-like blooms. Flowers appear in large clusters of 5–20, usually borne at the ends of stems. Stems are thick and very spiny, and young shoots are purple. The foliage is large, slightly wrinkled (rugose), and very shiny. The cultivar shows disease resistance, reaches 2 m in hot climates, and responds well to spring pruning to 150 cm, which stimulates the formation of new flower-bearing shoots. Certified under the ADR system in 1992 .
