More information
Flowers in bud and at full bloom show long, broad outer petals and shorter, wavy inner petals, producing a pale creamy pink blossom with a slightly darker reverse. Yellow stamens at the center create a warm salmon-pink tone in half-open flowers. Blooms appear singly or in clusters of up to 7 on long shoots held above large, dark, glossy foliage. The shrub shows disease resistance and blooms almost continuously until late autumn. Flowering can cover the shrub extensively.
Flowers are white-pink; the outer petals are in lighter tones, and the center is pearlescent pink. Petal coloration remains stable under external conditions except during heavy rains. Buds open to regularly formed blooms. Fully open flowers are large, about 9 cm in diameter, with approximately 25 petals. The fragrance is very strong, with notes of rose, citronella, and honey. Flowers are solitary or borne in tassel-like inflorescences with no more than three blooms. Each bloom persists for a long time. Performs best in sun and also grows in semi-shade. The plant is hardy. Leaves are large relative to plant size, more numerous toward the top; the lower part of the bush can appear sparse. Leaves are dark green and matte, contrasting with the flower color. In the second half of the season, powdery mildew may appear; under stress it can suffer from black spot. Forms well-branched bushes up to 1 m tall and 60 cm wide.
