More information
Although bred for industrial cutting, it is widely grown in gardens, especially in southern regions. Buds are dark, dense, almost black; flowers are dark red, densely waved (more than 35 petals), and odourless. Fully open single blooms reach up to 14 cm in diameter. Bushes are vigorous and tall, reaching up to 1.8 metres in the south. Overall, a large CHG rose producing many shoots. Shoots bear numerous straight prickles at the base; in the upper parts, prickles are fewer, rounded, and downward-directed, as in Kanina.
Disease resistance is average for PG; by autumn, bushes tend to have bare lower stems. Winter resistance is average. Zone 6b. Flowering is abundant and depends on the pruning method. With light shortening, 4–5-year-old bushes produce up to 30–40 flowers. Flower size is practically not reduced. Usually blooms in clusters.
A dark red cut variety. Yield is high; there is a tendency to produce thick shoots; removal of excess buds is required, as a single bud per shoot is rare. In the cut, it lasts 12–14 days. Under improper storage, flowers show a slight tendency to shift toward a blue tone.
