Ovoid red buds, mostly borne singly, open into large flowers with 17–25 petals, showing a high-centered deep pink, velvety on the inner surface and satiny on the outer. The bush is narrow, upright, reaching 1.8m, and densely foliated. The foliage is medium to dark green and glossy. Spines are flat, concave, about 7 mm long, with a red tinge.
