More information

R. multiflora carnea is a light pink species cross rose with mild fragrance. It produces small, double flowers with approximately 17 to 25 petals, borne in clusters, and blooms once in spring or summer. The plant has small foliage with 5 to 7 leaflets and reaches about 300 cm in height. It was bred in China before 1804 by an unknown Chinese breeder or breeders and was introduced in the United Kingdom around 1804 by Thomas Evans under the name Rosa X multiflora 'Carnea'. It is suitable for USDA zones 6b through 9b. Early hybrid multiflora roses such as 'Seven Sisters', 'Laure Davoust', and 'de la Grifferaie' are derived from this rose, which is considered a garden variety or species hybrid rather than the species Rosa multiflora.
