More information
Pur Caprice flowers are characterized by notable form and colour transitions. At first opening, they are rich golden-yellow; the petals then develop a wide red border as the yellow recedes. By the time the bloom becomes white, the red tips shift to green. The petals are very strongly wavy and angled. The plant is low and branching, with disease resistance. It blooms almost continuously and retains its petals long after they have turned green.
In this variety—listed among Henri Delbar’s favourites—the blooms display pronounced asymmetry: petals of differing sizes and shapes are arranged irregularly. Conical yellow-orange buds open to lemon-yellow (with shades); the petal edges gradually turn red while the flower center becomes white, and later the red edges turn green. On the same bush, flowers in markedly different colour stages can appear simultaneously. The variety can also be used as a groundcover: the bush spreads widely, forming a colour spot or array.
