More information
Polka 91 is a rose that can be trained as a low climber or grown as a large, arching shrub. The blooms are a rich apricot that fade to a creamy tone at the edges, with a darker underlay of petals that creates a play of shadows and shades. Petals have wavy edges reminiscent of crepe paper. Flowers appear singly or in small clusters—rarely more than 3 per cluster—and are suitable for floral arrangements. Flowering occurs in successive waves (twice in cold climates, three times in hot climates), with sparse blooms between the waves. The foliage is disease resistant, large, dark, and glossy.
Flower colour and form vary with the season, temperature, and humidity.
The branched shrub reaches 2.5–3 metres in height. Blooms are rich apricot, softening to creamy at the edges, which highlights the characteristic wavy petal margins arranged like layers of tissue paper.
Flowers are double, medium to large, appearing singly or in small clusters at the ends of stiff shoots. The colour is copper-salmon, fading to salmon-pink, while copper tones remain deep within the flower. Fragrance is very faint, and the blooms persist throughout summer and autumn. Suitable for pillars, walls, and hedges where a low bush rose is required. The plant is vigorous, well-branched, with abundant, glossy foliage.
