More information
Poetry in Motion produces lemon-yellow blooms with a peach tint on the reverse of the petals. The coloration is slightly deeper toward the center, where golden stamens create pronounced shadows between the petals. The flowers are smaller than many hybrid tea blooms, with a formal shape, and are borne singly at the ends of long shoots, making them suitable for cutting. The blooms are rain-resistant. Foliage is large, dark, and disease-resistant. Thorns are large. The shrub is upright and somewhat stiff.
This variety bears large flowers composed of 30 broad petals, typically appearing singly at the ends of long shoots. After opening they take on a rounded, cupped form, with the petals slowly curving back. Buds are a delicate yellow; as the flower opens, the edges become creamy yellow while the inner petals remain golden yellow. The flowering period extends through summer and autumn, with autumn blooms showing the strongest coloration. The fragrance is strong and fruity. The bush is branched and well clad with large, matte foliage.
The blooms are saffron yellow, later developing a pink tint; the pink is slight and appears in the last few days of the flower’s life. Long buds open to large flowers. At first, the petals are arranged around a tall center; as the flower unfolds, the length of the petals becomes evident. A fully open flower with 35 petals and a diameter of over 10 cm retains its form. The scent has citrus and honey notes. Large blooms are borne singly or in clusters of no more than 5 flowers. Flowers succeed one another, so the bush carries many blooms continuously. Suitable for cutting. Shrubs form an even crown; height is usually 1,1m -1,5m with a width of 1m. Performs well in all but the shadiest locations. Leaves are large and very glossy; mature foliage is green, while young growth emerges dark purple with burgundy and red tones. Foliage is abundant, so bushes remain well covered even before flowering. Powdery mildew is the main vulnerability of this variety.
