More information
One of the earliest shrubs in the Meidiland series. Although marketed as a landscape variety, Pink Meidiland performs well in gardens and flowers continuously until late autumn. The blooms are non-double, deep pink with a white center and a white reverse. The petals are wavy and appear in clusters of 3–15; scarlet hips follow. Deadheading promotes quick repeat, and the plant seldom lacks flowers. Pink Meidiland is branched, spiny, compact, and shows disease resistance. The flowers attract bees and tolerate rain.
Rich pink blooms with a white eye about 5 cm across. No scent. The shrub is vigorous, upright. Suitable for hedges. Tolerates partial shade. Not sufficiently winter-hardy; requires protection.
One of a series of shrubs bred by Meighan and recommended for planting at road junctions and in urban landscaping. The shrub is vigorous, well-branched, densely foliated, and flowers in umbrella-like clusters of about 20 blooms with a light fragrance. Pointed red buds open to medium-sized, cup-shaped flowers of deep pink with a white eye and yellow stamens at the center. The color lightens over time, and the petals drop cleanly. After the first heavy flush, flowering continues through summer and autumn. Shrub height is below average; foliage is leathery and glossy; young shoots are reddish green.
