Eugene Berner used New Dawn to breed many modern variegated roses—repeat bloomers, abundant, and winter hardy. Pink Cloud is one example. The flowers are dark pink, densely brushed, fragrant, and borne in large clusters of 5–15. Clusters can droop under their own weight. The variety blooms abundantly in early summer, followed by lighter repeat waves. The bush is fast growing, upright, with dark, glossy foliage. Still very common worldwide.
The New Dawn genes were transmitted to Pink Cloud through both progenitors. The flowers are large, double, dense pink, cup-shaped, appearing in clusters. After the first profuse bloom, single flowers appear for the remainder of the season. The bush is medium in height; with strong pruning, the rose can be grown as a large shrub.
