More information
Perception is a large, strongly fragrant hybrid tea rose. Buds are elongated, with broad petals, and open slowly to creamy white flowers with a dark pink margin and a creamy yellow hue at the center. The colors blend into one another, producing strawberry‑pink edges. Flowers are usually borne singly on long shoots, suitable for cutting. Foliage is large, dark green, and glossy. The shrub is tall and upright; in hot climates it can reach 1.75 m and is bare at the base, so it is often placed at the back of a border among other plants.
Two contrasting colors define the bloom. Most of each petal is golden cream with a pink rim; each petal shows pink splashing. Buds are elongated and tapered. Petals unfold slowly, retaining the pointed bud for an extended period. Midway through the bloom’s development, the outer petals form a regular circle while the inner petals remain gathered in a tall, tapered center. Fully open flowers are at least 13 cm in diameter. It tolerates rain well. The fragrance is strong, with rose and lemon notes. Flowers are typically single on long, straight stems, suitable for cutting. The variety blooms abundantly and for a prolonged season. The shrub is vigorous, with strong shoots, reaching 1,4–2,4 m in height and 75–110 cm in width. Height should be controlled by pruning. Hardy variety. Leaves are large, leathery, tough, dark green. Main drawback: susceptibility to black spot.
