Hybrid Rugosa and species cross rose with white blooms. Flowers have mild to strong clove fragrance and about 5 petals, forming large single, cluster-flowered blooms with an average diameter of about 9 cm. It blooms once in spring or summer. The plant has an arching, thorny, bushy, climbing and spreading growth habit, with large, glossy, dark green, wrinkled foliage bearing 5 to 7 leaflets. Typical height ranges from 90 to 200 cm and width from 185 to 400 cm. It is vigorous and suitable for USDA zones 4a through 5b. The rose forms orange-scarlet hips and is a diploid. It was bred by George Paul in the United Kingdom before 1903 and introduced in Australia by C. H. Halstead in 1904 under the name 'Repens Alba'.
