More information
Patte de Velours displays abundant flowering, suitable for those who favor two-coloured roses. Its small, creamy blooms are edged with a fine red rim that broadens and intensifies in sunny weather. The variety may be included among rarities in garden roses because it is thornless. For this reason, it is suitable for borders in a "perky place" and is safe even for children's hands. This variety can be pruned periodically when there is no need for strict control of the planting contour.
Beyond the absence of thorns, the plant is ornamental. The small (5–6 cm) creamy flowers carry a delicate red margin that in sunny weather expands and becomes more intense. If strict control of planting contours is unnecessary, apply light annual pruning; in arrays, periodic pruning (once every 3–4 years) is sufficient. In the latter case, old shoots are cut to the base, and young shoots are shortened to about 25 cm above soil level. To move away from the ground cover appearance of the variety, perform annual pruning in the manner of floribunda roses.
