Oreanda is a Hybrid Kordesii rose cultivar bred by Zinaida Konstantinovna Klimenko in Crimea (then Ukraine) in 1968. It produces large, double, cup-shaped flowers of bright crimson-red color with purple shading and golden-yellow stamens. The flowers are very full, with up to about 47 petals, and are borne in small clusters. The average bloom diameter is approximately 10.8 cm (4.25 inches). The cultivar is reported as very fragrant in some descriptions and as mildly fragrant in others.
Oreanda blooms repeatedly in flushes throughout the growing season and is classified in the Cordesa (Kordesii) rose group. The plant has an arching, compact, and dense growth habit with glossy dark green foliage. Mature plants typically reach a height of about 200–250 cm (6 ft 7 in–8 ft 2 in). The cultivar is used in solitary plantings, on small supports, and as a hedge. It was named after an old village near Yalta.
