More information

Oranges 'n' Lemons is a modern rose with irregular stripes of bright orange on a bright lemon-yellow ground. The striping is random, with approximately twice as much yellow as orange in each bloom. Color remains intense on the plant for an extended period; as the blooms age, they fade to a creamy salmon tone. Opening flowers are tidy and well-formed; at full expansion, the blooms are flat. Inflorescences appear in clusters of 3–7 flowers and show rain resistance. Young foliage is red-purple, later maturing to dark green; new shoots and the few spines are also initially red. The shrub shows disease resistance and vigorous growth, producing long, arching canes that can reach 2 m or more in height in hot climates. Colors are brighter and flowering is more abundant in cooler weather.

As the name implies, this is a bicolor cultivar: orange is the primary hue, with yellow added as distinct stripes and strokes. Blooms have semi-wavy petals, reach up to 9 cm in diameter, and are slightly fragrant. Flowering is abundant. The flowers are borne in clusters, evenly distributed among the foliage and held above it to display the coloration. Blooming is prolonged, almost without interruption. Mature plants form a defined crown with many basal stems. Plant size: height 1.1 m, width 75 cm. Grows in full sun and light partial shade. The foliage is dense and large; young leaves are reddish, later turning dark green. Under unfavorable conditions it can be affected by black spot and powdery mildew.
