Nil Bleu bears large, full, fragrant blooms that maintain lilac coloration throughout the flowering period. Blooms have a defined form and are produced singly or in clusters of 2–3. The bush is stiff, upright, and prickly, with very large, dark leaves. In cold climates it is usually pruned to 75 cm; in hot climates, maintain a bush height of about 150 cm to improve flowering.
