Flowers soft yellow with vivid red petal edges, large, up to 10 cm in diameter, strongly fragrant, with curled petal margins. Foliage is leathery, dark green. Flowering is abundant. The bush is upright, up to 70 cm tall and 40 cm wide.
Buds are large, globular, and pointed. Flowers show bright red edges, lightening to cream-white toward the center; the outer petals are also cream-white and become brighter as they open; persistent, high-centered, large (10–11 cm), double (35 petals), fruit-scented; mostly solitary on thick, straight, sturdy pedicels; slow to open. Leaves are dark green and glossy; young leaves are bronze. Numerous prickles of various sizes. Shrubs up to 1 m high, upright. Flowering is moderate to abundant, prolonged. Winter-hardy. Slightly susceptible to powdery mildew. For group plantings and cutting. Introduced to the GBS in 1970 .
