More information
A variety in burgundy shades. Buds are light crimson, and as the centre opens it turns a very dark, velvety maroon, while the outer petals remain light. Blooms are large, initially cup-shaped, then opening more widely over time. As the bloom ages, yellow stamens become visible at the centre. The shrub is branched and broad; disease resistance is reported as good. Foliage is bright green. Young leaves are red-bronze, providing contrast with the flowers. The scent is strong, a classic rose-oil profile with a fruity note. An Austin fragrance specialist describes it as "warm and fruity, with notes of blueberry, blueberry and sloe."
