Davide Dalla Libera (b. 1985) began working with roses at age 13–14 at “La Campanella”, an Italian nursery specializing in old roses. In 2011 he opened a small nursery called Novaspina to sell his novelties and preserve the work of other Italian and lesser-known breeders. He collects hundreds of historical and unknown varieties, using them by crossing Gallica, Wichuraiana, Setigera, Moscata, and Noisette roses to obtain strong roses for hot regions. To this end, seedling selection is largely left to the environment. This approach has obtained increasing scores in international rose trials.
