More information

Morden Blush bears pale pink flowers with dark pearl-pink centers and creamy-white edges; the colour intensifies in cold weather. Within the Parkland series it is cited as the most profusely flowering variety and the most popular. The blooms are terry, with many small, curved petals, opening from buds reminiscent of tea-hybrid roses. They retain their form for an extended period, sometimes up to a fortnight, and fully opened pale pink blooms contrast with deep pink buds. Flowers occur singly and in clusters of up to 6. The foliage is dark and glossy, resistant to disease in dry weather but susceptible to black spot in wet conditions. It tolerates heat, reaching 2 m in the south, yet remains a low, compact shrub not exceeding 75 cm in Canada. Flowering is abundant and prolonged until the first frost.

A variety suitable for planting in massed beds. Susceptible to black spot. Mostly winter-hardy, but it usually frosts over in severe winters.

Dies back to ground level in winter, then regrows and flowers regularly. The flowers are large, densely branched, very light pink in colour. The bush is low and erect. Easily propagated from cuttings.

This cultivar blooms somewhat more abundantly than other Morden roses, with brushes of flat terry flowers 5–7.5 cm in diameter. Despite the name, the flower colour is closer to the aftermath of a blush: blooms open peachy pink and fade to cream or ivory. The foliage is matt, usually disease-resistant, although black spot can occur in humid summers. The bush is low, compact, and winter-hardy.
