Flowers deep yellow with red and orange striping, large and fully double. Young foliage is bronze, later turning bright, glossy green. The bush is vigorous, up to 90 cm tall.
Sam McGrady bred several striped roses. Tropical Sunset is grown in Germany and the USA. Flowers are borne singly on long shoots; they are bright yellow with orange stripes and fragrance. The striping is most visible on the outer petal surfaces; the reverse remains pure yellow. With age, the yellow fades to cream and the orange turns crimson. The bush is upright and robust, with large thorns and dark foliage. Young growth is crimson.
