More information
This bush rose is widely cultivated. The flowers are single, crimson with a white center and bright yellow stamens. They are small but borne in large clusters, typically 20–60 per truss; the cultivar descends from the parent ‘Ballerina’. The blooms retain their color and persist for a long time, usually followed by small red hips. Foliage is bright green, thin, and glossy. The shrub is branching and continually produces new flowering shoots; it can be trained to twist along a wall. It shows good disease resistance, with only occasional powdery mildew or black spot. Flowering is continuous.
Flowers are bicolored and strongly contrasting: light cherry and white are arranged in concentric zones. A white central area is encircled by a light cherry ring formed by the petal edges. Blooms tolerate wet weather well, but in very hot sun the petals fade over time. Deadheading of aging flowers is recommended to maintain the shrubs. Hundreds of small light green buds form on the bushes. Each opens to a wide, flat flower, up to 2.5 cm in diameter, with 5 petals. Despite the abundance of blooms, fragrance is minimal. Large, clustered inflorescences produce mass flowering. Blooming is long, abundant, and late in the season. Many shoots arise from the base of the bush. Plants develop dense crowns and reach 1.2–1.8 m in height with a width of 75 cm–1.1 m. In hot climates, avoid planting where the roses are exposed to intense sun continuously. Leaves are small, numerous, matte, and range from green to light green, creating a dense, even crown. As shrubs, they are hardy and healthy. They are immune to most diseases but may show powdery mildew late in the season. Suitable for hedges and mixed borders. The variety is easy to grow; flowering is abundant and long-lasting.
