More information
In cold climates, this shrub blooms very early. The flowers are large, unbranched, with loosely arranged pink petals that quickly fade to pale pink. Yellow stamens are conspicuous. The shoots are long and arching, drooping as the bush grows. It takes several years for the plant to reach its stated size; in hot climates it can reach up to 5 metres, and due to its winter hardiness the variety is recommended for cultivation in Scandinavia. The foliage is fine and can suffer from black spot.
Hybrid moyesii. A sport from the cultivar Nevada. Flowers 9–10 cm in diameter, lightly fragrant. Strong-growing variety. Somewhat susceptible to black spot. Frost may occur, but it is generally considered fairly winter-hardy.
