Bred in Latvia at the National Botanical Garden; registered in Germany in 1979. Height up to 2.0 m. Medium-sized flowers (7–8 cm), semi-double (9–16 petals), pink with a darker center, fragrant, borne in inflorescences of 5–15 blooms. Flowers abundantly and almost continuously until frost. Also sold under the names Hokkaido and Sachalin.
Fully winter-hardy variety. Flowers are a warm light pink, deeper toward the center; depending on weather, a blush may appear; up to 8 cm across; carried in clusters from 3–5 to 10 or more; with a camellia-like form. Sweet fragrance. Flowering is abundant, extended, and repeating. Does not set fruit. Bushes are well-shaped and very prickly; shoots may arch under the weight of the inflorescences. Foliage is large, glossy, and rugose; shows minimal damage from diseases and pests.
