Rosa luciae is a white species rose with a moderate clover and green apple fragrance. Blooms are small, about 3.8 cm in diameter, single with 4 to 8 petals, mostly borne singly in large clusters. It flowers once in spring or summer. The plant has a spreading habit with semi-glossy dark green foliage and usually 5 to 7 leaflets. It reaches about 185 cm in height and 610 cm in width and can be grown as a ground cover. It is suitable for USDA zone 5b and warmer. The hips are oval and red. The name R. wichurana is treated as a synonym of R. luciae, with R. luciae var. wichuraiana as an accepted variety.
