More information

Louise Odier combines key traits of the Bourbon rose: a vigorously growing shrub that flowers almost without interruption with sweet-scented blooms. The flowers are pale pink at the edges, deeper and more intense pink toward the center. They are initially cup-shaped, like centifolia, then the petals curve back, as in Chinese roses, until the blooms are flat. Flowers appear singly or in dense clusters of up to 5; the rose blooms profusely in successive waves, with one or two flowers appearing between flushes. Foliage is abundant, pale green, and susceptible to powdery mildew and black spot in unfavorable conditions. Shoots are thick, with a moderate number of thorns. Suitable for hot climates and fairly hardy if young growth is well exposed to sun.

Characterized by large, saucer-shaped, densely petalled, regularly formed flowers, rich pink with a lilac tinge. They appear in clusters and are fragrant. The shrub is tall and strong-growing, up to 1.8 m high and 1.2 m wide, with long shoots that droop under the weight of the flowers. Abundant repeat flowering. Hardy, and shows better performance with regular care; not intended for neglected sites.

In favorable years, this historic Bourbon rose can flower continuously throughout summer. The densely petalled, often flattened pink blooms tend to nod. They are borne in clusters on a spreading shrub about man-height. Leaves are large, matte green. The flowers are very fragrant, with an initial lemon-candy note that later shifts to a rose-like fragrance.

Bright pink flowers with lilac undertones. Produced in large numbers in early summer, with a repeat in autumn. The flowers are densely petalled, cup-shaped, reminiscent of camellias; petals flatten with age. The fragrance is intense. Stems bend under the weight of the clusters, creating a fountain-like effect. The shrub is strong and upright with slender shoots. Winter hardy and disease resistant.
