More information
A bush that produces large, many-flowered clusters of pink blooms. Its wavy pink petals (26–40 petals per bloom) display a slight brownish tint reminiscent of candied almonds. Flowering is continuous during the season.
This rose is named for Saint Louise de Marillac (12 August 1591 – 15 March 1660), a Catholic saint who co-founded the Congregation of the Daughters of Charity. In 1633, she established in her Parisian mansion an orphanage for destitute girls from the province, who became her assistants in charitable work. In the same year, this community was reorganized as the Congregation of the Daughters of Charity, and Louise de Marillac became its first abbess.
