More information

Buds start to open a light pink; as the flowers expand they take on a pearly tone, and just before they drop the petals turn white. The buds are small and globular, developing into semi-double flowers about 5 cm in diameter. During the bud stage the petals are tightly packed, then they spread to reveal yellow centres. The scent is faint, with a pink note more noticeable on warm summer evenings. Compared with older varieties, this variegated rose has a long flowering period, with two clearly defined main waves. The flowers are carried in tassel-like clusters; although individual blooms are small, the multi-flowered inflorescences maintain an extended flowering pattern. This rose is smaller than other pleached roses, reaching 1.8–2.4 metres in height and up to 2.1 metres in width. It shows typical pleached-rose traits: long, thin shoots that are easy to train and vigorous growth, but on a reduced scale. It grows well in most locations except very shady areas. The variety is hardy despite the thin shoots. The leaves are small, light green, glossy, and provide a background for the flowers. Under suitable conditions it is generally disease-resistant; if conditions are suboptimal or the plant is stressed, preventive measures against false powdery mildew and true powdery mildew are recommended. Suitable for fences, walls, and small pergolas.
