In hot climates, Lilac Rose remains pink, while in its native England purple tints appear on the undersides of the petals. The blooms are large, richly scented, cup-shaped, rosette-shaped, pink at the center with paler margins. They usually appear in clusters of 3–7. The shrub is stiff, prickly, with bright green foliage, and is susceptible to fungal diseases. Used in mixed borders, where its form and color can be combined with other plants.
