A sport derived from Mme. A. Meilland. Kronenbourg produces dark, velvet-red blooms with a pure yellow reverse on the petals, creating a contrasting face and reverse. This variety inherits traits from Mme. A. Meilland. A pleached sport is also recorded .

In international classification, encyclopedias list the color as red blend with yellow reverse.

The variety is recommended for cultivation in zone 7.
