More information
Most cut roses perform well in dry weather. Karen Blixen is not an exception: its thin petals are damaged by rain and develop red spots. Under favorable conditions the blooms are white with a very pale lemon tinge at the center, opening from long, classically shaped buds. They usually appear singly, sometimes in small clusters, but the shoots are not always strong enough, so the flowers may droop. The foliage is bright green, susceptible to black spotting. The bush is tall, strong-growing, denuded from below. Performs best in hot, dry conditions.
Flowers are white, plain white without any tints or shades. The large buds open into blooms with high centers. Flowers with 35 petals, up to 8 cm in diameter, retain their form for a long time. Light spicy fragrance. Among the tea-hybrid roses, this variety is among the earliest and most abundantly flowering. The bush bears numerous blooms. Flowering remains abundant until the very end of the season. The variety is characterised by good health; bushes have even, rounded crowns. Bushes produce many shoots and therefore appear dense. Bushes are about 1.2 m tall and can be over 75 cm wide.
