More information
This cultivar presents well at every stage, from an unfolding pointed bud to a fully open bloom with large, waxy petals. The flowers are creamy orange, with an apricot reverse. Petals fade to creamy, sometimes nearly white tones starting at the outer edges, so multiple shades can appear on a single bloom. Just Joey performs best in cooler climates, where colour and scent are strongest; it is less common in hot regions. The shrub is medium-sized, with glossy, healthy foliage.
The rose has received many awards and is widely grown. After the first heavy flush, subsequent flowering during the season is less abundant than in many other cultivars. The blooms are very large, flexible, with wavy petals and strong coloration.
Medium-sized shrub to about 75 cm, with sparse, bright green foliage. The flowers are large and very full, in copper, peach, and cream tones. In hot weather, the blooms can be especially large.
Pointed orange buds open to large, double, goblet-shaped yet loose flowers 10–15 cm across. Petals have wavy edges, initially bright peachy-orange, then fading to peach or peach-pink at the margins as the bloom ages. Flowers appear singly or, more often, in clusters. The fragrance is fruity. Flowering begins in early summer, with rapid repeat flushes to autumn. Shoots are prickly and branching. Foliage is dark green and glossy. The bush is branching, somewhat spreading, and rounded, typically 90–120 cm tall, but it can be as short as 60 cm or reach up to 150 cm with good care.
