More information

Bud is dark red, rounded-pointed, and opens slowly. Flowers are bright carmine red with a velvety, silky texture, 13–14 cm in diameter, very double (57–60 petals), and fragrant. Blooms are borne singly or in small clusters of up to three on sturdy pedicels and shoots. In the southern coastal areas of Crimea, petals are prone to scorching and baking under intense sun.

Bushes are vigorous and spreading. Leaves are medium-sized, ovate, dark green, leathery, and matte. Thorns are medium-sized. Flowering is moderate. The variety is susceptible to black spot and has average winter hardiness.

Junnatka is a hybrid tea rose with carmine-red, very full flowers, typically about 13.3 cm across and with 57–60 petals, produced mostly singly or in small clusters in recurrent flushes during the growing season. Foliage is matte, dark green, and leathery, and the plant bears thorns. It is susceptible to black spot. The cultivar was bred in the former USSR by M. V. Besstchetnowa and K. L. Sushkov in 1958. Its parentage is the floribunda ‘Sondermeldung’ (Kordes, before 1943) crossed with ‘Gloria Dei’.
